Another exciting collaboration by Kenzo and Vans is coming up which is set to launch from May/June 2012. While the American cult label that is Vans may seem far from anything the Japanese powerhouse has for offer, the newly appointed designers Humberto Leon and Carol Lim actually grew up in suburbian L.A. and loved a pair of Vans to boot. A touch of the American flavour is therefore happily infused into the Kenzo philosophy for a street minded appeal.

Kenzo’s aesthetics until this day sums up as fun, energetic and ethnic in one heartbeat with a clear focus on color, prints and that Parisian chic. With Leon and Lim at the helm who were actually game-changing retailers at New York’s Opening Ceremony, Kenzo is at the head of cool and even closing the SS 2012 show with the fashion forward Chloë Sevigny.

As for Kenzo meeting Vans this Summer the original skate shoe’s (dubbed the Era) canvas is covered in rich primary colours and texture that was also seen on the Kenzo runway. So get your kicks on and possibly team it up with a Kenzo anorak or wave-textured knit for a contemporary, urban look.
