Whether the fashion scene may come up with a trend called World Traveller for S/S 2012 or not, London boutique Kokon To Zai remains faithful to their own style – always eclectic and essentially tribal. The UK concept store with outlets in both London and Paris started out with a group of talented students from Central Saint Martins who decided to put their own spin on style that is unmistakably graphic, colourful and young.
KTZ is made up of trio Sasko Bezovski and Marjan Pejoski from Macedonia, and the Japanese Koji Murayama. This Spring/Summer 2012 they followed an African theme representing a tribe, a true community that is KTZ. The high energy that is present in Maasai (which is the main focus of the S/S 2012 collection) imagery made for a clear direction in print and drapery.
‘From here to then’ is the loose translation of Kokon To Zai which fits the look and feel of these vivid and colourful garments. However the single message that this brand embodies works with the movement behind the design, a certain emotion you feel with a KTZ piece, and that is the essence of these visual soul searchers.
