Whatever happens to stock that is not used, not sold and cannot be stored any longer? Dutch based design company Droog, went to great lengths to find out how this kind of waste can be put to good use. By donating goods ready to be destroyed, into the hands of keen designers, Droog found that things could be UPPED in value through redesign. And so the initiative UP by Droog was born.
Launched this November in Amsterdam, Up by Droog explained the concept of UP and unveiled the first round of re-designed products from companies including Makro, van Gansewinkel, Vlisco and Mediq. Using such items as medical supplies, porcelain goods and recycled rubbish a series of brilliant creations set the tone for what looks to be an ongoing initiative.
