What do you do?
I’m a freelance translator (German-English) with a focus on fashion/culture-related texts (Style and the Family Tunes, Bread & Butter, J’N’C Magazin, Bright etc.)

Where are you from?
I am originally from Newcastle in North-East England. I studied languages at Northumbria University and spent one year of the degree at the University of Applied Sciences in Cologne in 2000/2001. I loved it so much that I decided to come and live here permanently after graduating and became freelance in 2006.

Where do you go?
For the perfect steak: Chef in Cologne (http://www.chezchef.de/), parties at the Papierfabrik, cocktails at the Kunstbar  (http://diekunstbar.com), BBQs with friends, weekend breaks to cities like Amsterdam, Stockholm, London and trips to Newcastle whenever I get the chance.

Where do you like to be most?
Italy, at the beach, on the dance floor, hotels and restaurants, Topshop, at the airport, having a Thai massage….

What do you believe in?
That life is short and you have to make the most of every second.

What do you NOT believe in (any more)?
The England team’s ability to play football!! Oh the shame….!!

What do you love? (preferably: in your line of work/passion)
The fact that I can work wherever there is a W-LAN connection, being my own boss, unlimited holidays (in theory!), Skyping, my BlackBerry, sitting on my balcony or in my favourite café with a coffee and getting stuck into a chunky translation, seeing my name in print, writing invoices….

What do you hate? (preferably: in your line of work/passion)
Unrealistic deadlines, all work and no play, clients who don’t pay on time, the lack of office banter, weekend work…

What are you reading/listening to right now?
Reading: “One Day” by David Nicholls, a really good book about two people who live their whole lives without realising that what they were looking for was right in front of them the whole time.

Listening to: The Koletzkis, Gui Boratto, The XX, Róisín Murphy etc.
